Abstract:As a type of semi-nature space, urban green open space has a pretty close relationship with public health. Design of urban green open space could have a direct impact on human health. However, most studies on health and green opens space are conducted in separated field and lack of systematic and holistic studies on health benefits and process of green open space, which hinders translating the knowledge into the design. Firstly, there's a strong evidence that the green open space could improve physical and psychological, social health benefits. Then, the authors analyzed the causes and process of the health benefits through three mechanisms as promoting physical activities, natural therapeutic power and accumulating social capital. Accordingly, three design and planning strategies based on the findings were put forward in order to make green open space more beneficial for health.
