Abstract:It is a new perspective to study the rationality of waterscape design in residential areas from the angle of users. Questionnaire survey was used to conduct an investigation of complete waterscape in residential areas in Foshan, mainly contain the application status and residents' post-occupancy evaluation of waterscape in residential areas. SPSS was used in correlation analysis of several waterscape factors and the total satisfaction score. The results show that: 1) Water quality was acceptable (3.44/5), but dry-up rate was high, and the landscape effect of dried waterscape gained a low score (2.26/5), and the open rate of dynamic waterscape was very low; 2) The total satisfaction were acceptable (3.64/5), but the visual beauty of waterscapes was not desirable (2.99/5), most people prefer dynamic stream, Ornamental function acquired most importance, but Feng Shui meaning of waterscape also acquired attention of 1/3 people; 3) Waterscape management level showed a downward trend after residents moved in; 4) Residents showed expectation on the maintenance of water quality and safety protection; 5) Two factors of waterscape that showed greatest impact on the overall satisfaction were the visual beauty and water quality. Finally, improvement strategies were put forward according to above results.
